Cadden added to Scotland squad

Motherwell winger Chris Cadden has been called up to Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad for the end-of-season friendlies against Peru and Mexico.

The 21-year-old is added to the side following the withdrawal of Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie and Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser on Wednesday.

Cadden is uncapped at senior level for Scotland, but has made seven appearances for the U21 side.

He has made 44 appearances for Motherwell this season, scoring four goals, and should feature in the Scottish Cup final against Celtic on Saturday.

McLeish’s squad face Peru in Lima on May 29 before travelling to play Mexico on June 2.

Ritchie was included in the 24-man squad named on Monday but misses out with a knee injury, while no reason has been given for Fraser’s absence but it is believed he is also carrying an injury.

McLeish named seven uncapped players for these friendlies which included John Souttar, Celtic’s Lewis Morgan and Hibernian left-back Lewis Stevenson.

The other four uncapped players are goalkeepers Jordan Archer of Millwall and Jon McLaughlin of Hearts, and midfielders Graeme Shinnie of Aberdeen and Hibernian’s Dylan McGeouch.
